Transformation Through Reconciliation

A unique blend of biblically-based
mediation and Christian counseling that
facilitates transformation through reconciliation

Marital struggles are complex and painful. Intensive care provides the opportunity to explore and address core issues.

The R&R Week is intensive care for hurting couples.

Professional counselors and certified Christian Conciliators guide couples through the difficult but rewarding journey of reconciling damaged relationships and restoring trust and intimacy.

Custom-tailored preparation helps make the R&R Week effective and life changing. Collaborative follow-up with support from the clients' local Christian community encourages the couple as they pursue their carefully constructed restoration plan.

The R&R Week is typically a five day intensive process, led by a highly-trained and experienced male and female mediation team. Some couples choose to extend the intensive counseling portion of the R&R Week by one to five days. At least one member of the mediation team is a professional counselor who supervises the intensive counseling component of the R&R Week.

The R&R Week involves:

Day 1: Mediation

The mediation process begins with storytelling to identify the core issues. Opportunity to pursue reconciliation on specific issues often presents throughout the day.

Days 2, 3, and 4: Intensive Counseling

Several days of intensive counseling help address the "heart" of the struggles being experienced. The counselor provides solidly biblical counseling in a combination of individual and joint sessions. Specific issues of hurt and loss are addressed with compassion as the husband and wife begin to understand themselves, and one another, in a more accurate and comprehensive way. Exercises and assignments throughout the week provide opportunity for deep reflection on the timeless principles found in God's Word relevant to the concerns at hand.

Day 5: Mediation

When the couple arrives on the morning of Day 5, they begin by reviewing a written draft describing all of the personal issues addressed throughout the week. Important reconciliation events are recorded in this written document entitled "Memorandum of Understanding." Then, together with the help and experience of the mediation team, all work collaboratively to develop a plan of restoration that often involves a commitment to future counseling, discipleship, spiritual development and skills training. The couple leaves with a written Memorandum of Understanding that chronicles both the reconciliation process and the restoration plan to guide them on their journey toward a healed marriage.

Many couples find the R&R Week so valuable that they schedule a "refresher" within the first year following their intensive experience.
